Ma introduced the use of virtual reality and 360-degree video into his international reporting course in 2018, which included a trip to Hong Kong. The following year, Ma led another group of Ryerson students to produce four 360-degree videos covering the disappearing cultural and historical traditions in Hong Kong (which both Ashley Fraser and Adam Chen participated in 2018 and 2019). This year, he is introducing virtual reality and 360-degree video storytelling into his advanced multimedia course. He explains what the future holds for 360-degree video and virtual reality within the journalism landscape.
