In his final year of the Master of Journalism program, Trent is always on the lookout for new challenges and his next adventure. After working for several years in advertising and publishing, he followed his passion and transitioned to journalism. Also acting as a Features Editor at The Otter, Trent uses the power of narrative to make large, complex issues like mental health more accessible, providing a human element that facilitates intimate connections. When he’s not working, he’s travelling, exploring the outdoors, reading anything he can get his hands on, and learning about a world which never ceases to fascinate and inspire him. |
Chloe Kim
Senior Editor/Podcast Director
Chloe is in her final year of the Master of Journalism program and works on the Review’s senior editorial team. She is interested in audio-based journalism and stories that prioritize underrepresented voices. She’s interned at The Big Story Podcast and CBC’s Day 6. |
Livia Dyring
Senior Editor
Livia is in her final year of the Master of Journalism program and works on the Review’s senior editorial team. She is an associate producer at CBC Radio and has freelanced as a science writer. Livia is interested in art, science, current affairs, and stories that take a big perspective on the long, ongoing journey of humanity. When she’s not working, she loves listening to music, visiting art galleries, and spending time in nature. |
Andrew Roberts

Andrew is in his final year of the Master of Journalism program. As a former film school student, he has a deep passion for arts journalism. He has been published in Exclaim!, Today’s Parent, and his own Substack, The Ferryman. Outside of reporting, Andrew can be found breaking down shot compositions on his Letterboxd. |
Charlotte Cole

Charlotte is not from Toronto but now calls it home. With a background in multimedia, journalism is a new passion for her. She has worked independently for The Otter, The Eyeopener and interned at The Investigative Journalism Bureau, with her main journalistic interests being protest coverage, investigative journalism and media criticism. If she is not answering your calls, her phone is either dead or in her pocket while she rides her bike. |
Emily Di Natale

Emily is in her final year of her Bachelor of Journalism at TMU, fulfilling a minor in Politics and Governance. She has written for the student magazine CanCulture and finds interest in stories about local and international politics, as well as social and environmental issues. Outside of her reporting, she spends most of her time playing soccer, reading just about anything she can find and spending time with her family. |
Marina Black
Production Editor
Marina is in her final year of the Master of Journalism program, overseeing The Review’s production schedule and ensuring all teams are on track to meet their goals. She is an editorial writer and photographer through her business, Marina Black Media, and co-produced for The Agenda with Steve Paikin during her internship at TVO. When she’s not walking her beat, she’s curled up with a book and her cat, Felix. |
Maya Ivancevic

Maya is in her fourth year of TMU’s Bachelor of Journalism program, pursuing a double minor in English and history in preparation for teachers college. Maya has published work with the Unaffiliated Press, where she discovered a passion for the editorial side of journalism. As an aspiring English teacher and self-proclaimed grammar nerd, Maya is excited to take on the challenges of Copy Edit Chief. In the rare moments when you find Maya without her eyes glued to a page, you can often find her scribbling down ideas for a book, guzzling espresso, or coaching youth soccer. |
Angel Agbontaen

Angel is a fashion stylist in her final year of her Bachelor of Journalism, focusing on arts, fashion and culture. She’s launched the first issue of WDYM WHACK, a fashion magazine that aims to show fashion in cities worldwide. Driven by the desire to bring the stories of the Black diaspora to the forefront of fashion and journalism, her writing has been featured in T-Dot, CanCulture, FORM and more. When she’s not writing or playing with clothes, you can find her dreaming big, with a bag of Kinder Buenos by her side. |

Matthew is in his final year of the Master of Journalism program. He has written stories for The National Post, THIS Magazine, The Bureau, and White Wall Review, among others. He is interested in writing stories about social justice, art, and culture. |

Reema Najjar

Reema Najjar is a final-year undergraduate journalism student at Toronto Metropolitan University. She has a niche within arts and culture journalism, as she enjoys capturing local concerts, runways, and event photography. As a queer Palestinian photojournalist, she’s interested in covering stories that centre around communities with minimal mainstream media representation. When she’s not on the hunt for her next shoot, she could be found lounging with her cat Charlie or seen frantically researching her next special interest. |

Guia is a fourth-year journalism undergraduate at TMU pursuing a minor in fashion. She has contributed to fashion magazines in Canada, such as Fashion Studio Magazine, Liminul Magazine, and Look Magazine. Her writing focuses on the absence or rise of diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability in fashion. Outside of writing, she loves altering and upcycling her thrifted pieces and enjoying classic old movies with her loved ones. |

Jay Ashdown
Head of Research
Jay is in his final year of TMU’s Bachelor of Journalism program. He has worked at Ricochet Media and The Eyeopener, and occasionally dabbles in film critique for Met Radio. Passionate about journalism with a focus on social justice, he believes strong reporting has the power to upend the status quo. Jay spends his off hours running campaigns for the campus Trans Collective, (still) figuring out how to use Photoshop, and waiting for the next Luca Guadagnino movie to come out. |

Alexia is in her final year of the Master of Journalism program. She interned with CBC Podcasts and graduated from the MIT program at Western University. Her work has been published in the Toronto Star, and currently works in a creative marketing role. When she’s not writing or working, she loves baking, crafting and spending time with her boxer. |

Owen is in the final year of his Bachelor of Journalism. He has previously written album reviews for Met Radio and is a social media coordinator for Oliver and Bonacini Hospitality. Interested in the business side of the masthead, he is looking forward to the challenges that come with stirring up engagement as well as revenue for The Review. Outside of this, he works as a waiter and enjoys watching sports, hiking and playing soccer. |
